Providers to have their say in how the NSW Government responds to the DRC report

What you need to know
- The NSW Government has called for submissions to inform their response to the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) Final Report.
- Submissions close on Monday 29 January.
- NDS will respond to the NSW call but urge NSW members to submit their own.
- NDS will also respond to the federal Department of Social Services consultation on the Commission’s recommendations.
The NSW Government is calling for submissions to inform how they will respond to the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) Final Report. The report, released at the end of September, made 222 recommendations in 12 volumes, including many affecting state government services and programs. The government is asking for public submissions that answer two key questions: What are the most important recommendations and why? And do you disagree with any of the recommendations and why? Submissions can be made by email, video message or phone call.
They would especially like to hear from people with disability, their families and carers, advocates and representative organisations, disability service providers, unions and workers, peak bodies, academics and other organisations.
NDS will be responding with our own submission on behalf of members, but we encourage members to make their own.
The closing date is Monday 29 January. More information, including how to make a submission, can be found on the Department of Communities and Justice Website.
The Federal Government is also inviting submissions about the DRC report and members can fill out the questionnaire on the Department of Social Services webpage. Submissions close on Friday 19 January and NDS will also be making a submission on behalf of members.
