Health and Aged Care Facility owners and managers have a crucial responsibility to ensure that their facilities are fully compliant with safety and emergency planning regulations to guarantee a high level of safety for staff, residents, and visitors. This includes not only fire safety but also preparedness for a range of other emergencies such as medical emergencies, bomb threats, infrastructure failures, and other internal crises. This course is recommended for all workers providing care services and those with Emergency Control Team obligations within an office environment. The course complies with Australian Standards AS 3745 - 2010 Planning for Emergencies in Facilities and AS 4083 - 2010 Planning for Emergencies - Health Care Facilities.

What content does the course cover?

This course covers the requirements under WHS Regulation 2011 and includes:

  • Be prepared for any foreseeable emergencies.
  • Minimise any adverse impact on the safety or health of people and their environment in a fire emergency.
  • Learn how to identify and use equipment within your workplace.
  • Familiarisation with automated fire systems and equipment
  • Site emergency and evacuation plans
  • Explore what to do in the event of other emergencies using a colour coded Emergency Response Guide.
  • Evacuation and communications of emergencies in line with AS 3745 - 2010 ‘Planning for emergencies in facilities’ and AS 4083 - 2010 ‘Planning for emergencies - Health care facilities.’
  • Fire extinguishers choice and use

Course completion requires:

Successful completion of the compulsory quizzes included throughout the learning.

Certification:

Once successfully completed, learners will be issued with a digital certificate of completion
