In a departure from recent Federal Budgets, disability-specific measures have been reduced to a relatively small number of initiatives within the Budget papers. As expected, the Budget is dominated by investments aimed at stimulating the economy which is taking a battering from the impacts of COVID-19.

A centrepiece of the Budget is the JobMaker Plan, which includes the JobMaker Hiring Credit. It will make available $4 billion over four years from 2020-21 to create additional jobs: employers will receive $200 per week for a year if the new eligible employee is aged 16 to 29 years or $100 per week if they hire an eligible employee aged 30 to 35 years. Disability service providers will be eligible.
