Today, Minister Shorten outlined the government’s initial response to the NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce advice: Stronger registration to begin for NDIS sector.
Established in February this year to provide advice on implementing NDIS Review recommendations for a new provider registration system, the Taskforce proposed a proportionate approach to provider registration, a new category for self-directed supports and a disability worker registration scheme.
Describing today’s announcements as an immediate response to the Taskforce’s advice, the release states that supported independent living, support coordination and platform providers will need to register with the NDIS Commission. This will occur under the current registration model, however there is no information on timeframes.
