Tasmanian disability sector signs Industry Skills Compacts

New partnership invests in disability workforce skills and training that will improve services to people with disability.

Ahead of the Coalition Network meeting on 28 September, we report on the progress made so far by the Workforce Coordination Project. The project is a whole-of-industry response to the projected shortage of 4000 jobs in community services by 2024.

Involving government, peak bodies and community services, the project is funded under the Tasmanian Community Services Industry Plan (2021–31), whose vision is to create a connected community services industry. Led by the Workforce Readiness Team (WRT), the project encompasses four sectors: Disability, Aged Care, Early Childhood Education and Social Services and sits under Strategic Priority 2 of the plan: Workforce Development and Training.    The Workforce Readiness Team are collaborating across:
