Program overview

The Disability Induction Program is an industry-endorsed program, developed by NDS, to ensure a minimum entry-level and consistent process for all new and potential employees entering the disability sector, regardless of their job role.

By the end of the program, learners will have a comprehensive and practical understanding of the work conducted within the sector – the rewards as well as the challenges.

The program is designed to be completed flexibly, at a learner’s own pace. There are five courses in the program which all together take on average four to five hours to complete:

  1. It’s a great career if you enjoy working with people
  2. You can make a difference
  3. Essential skills
  4. Looking after yourself and others
  5. Your work is meaningful.

The Disability Induction Program prepares people to work in the disability sector by introducing them to and encouraging a person-centred approach. The tools within the program explain and demonstrate the need and practicalities of placing the person with disability at the centre of all decision-making and operational activities.

Having received industry recognition (Platinum Award Winner Best Elearning Design - Accessibility 2015 Learnx LearnX Impact, and Highly Commended - Best Use of Technology for Learning, AITD National Training Excellence Awards 2015) NDS Learn & Develop is proud to make this e-learning program available for purchase.

Access to the Disability Induction program will be made available via NDS Learning Management Systems allowing individuals to keep track of their personal training records.

Who should participate?

All disability service organisation staff, particulary those who are new to the disability sector.
