Member Webcast: Lessons from the Royal Commission into Sexual Abuse from Robert Fitzgerald AM
In response to popular demand, we are sharing an NDS member-only webcast of the presentation delivered at our recent CEO Meeting by Robert Fitzgerald AM, Commissioner and Member of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Robert delivered the Kenneth Jenkins Oration, titled "Lessons from the Royal Commission into Sexual Abuse", to an audience of more than 600 senior leaders at the conference.
Robert spoke eloquently and honestly about his experiences at the Royal Commission of cases of sexual abuse involving people with disability. He also spoke about preventing and responding to cases of abuse, and the organisational implications of the new NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
Robert Fitzgerald AM is a Commissioner with the Productivity Commission and was a Commissioner on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse for five years. He was first appointed as a full time Commissioner with the Productivity Commission in January 2004. Prior to that, he was the NSW Community and Disability Services Commissioner and Deputy Ombudsman.
He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1994.
